You can probably tell that it’s contest season in Toastmasters. This is the 4th contest I’ve spoken at in the last few weeks. This time it was at an “area” contest. In Toastmasters, there are clubs, and then there are areas that have 4-5 clubs in them and then divisions that have 4-5 areas in […]

I got another chance to speak at a contest. This time it was at the famous Timber Talkers Toastmasters club. They are a very well-known and strong club in the area. They were also having their International Speech and Evaluation contest. I was once again the Model Speaker. I have been using this as an […]

I went to Seattle today to give a full day workshop on “The Unbreakable Rules of Personal Branding”, hosted by Eventsbella. This is the second year in a row I’ve come up to Seattle to present for Eventsbella. Last April I came up and did a workshop on “The Unbreakable Rules of Marketing” which this […]

I visited another Toastmasters club again this week. It’s actually been a great experience to get out and visit clubs that I didn’t get a chance to get to when I was District Governor last year. Clackamas Stepping Stones is a club that’s over 20 years old. It’s fantastic with lots of wonderful members. Including […]

For this week’s speech, I drove up to Camas, Washington to visit Wafermasters at WaferTech. The experience was great from the moment I walked in the door. The facility is very modern and the people very friendly. The Toastmasters group I was speaking to was a small, yet fun and lively group. I gave my […]

What a fun group to visit! The only problem I see with this club is they meet at 6:30am. And I forgot to ask them why their club name was Jantzen when they weren’t located in Jantzen Beach. I figure that maybe they started there and then moved. I gave the leadership speech, “Don’t Be […]

I did a leadership training with the team at Graystone Media. They are an incredible group. It was a fun and interactive training. I presented “The Leadership Wheel” in which I covered 10 leadership qualities that were applicable to their team and growth. They were: Accountability Rising above the circumstances and taking ownership to achieve […]

Feedbackers is an advanced Toastmasters club that meets monthly. What a great concept for a club. When you speak you get three verbal evaluations. One person gives you feedback on your overall speech structure, and how well you stuck to the objectives of the speech. The other two give you input on specific criteria, like […]

I got another chance to speak this week. It was at Future Stars, the youth communication and leadership club I started 4 years ago. Since I merged the group with another youth group, the attendance has become quite high and I’ve taken on the role of one of the 4 coordinators. I was impressed with […]

The US Bank Columbia Center in Gresham, Oregon was hosting a demo Toastmasters meeting to create interest in starting a Toastmasters club at that location for the internal employees. I was the only speaker for the meeting and I talked about how important communication and leadership skills were in the workforce.
